The Latest Scoop on FileMaker 12

I just got back from the FileMaker developer conference 2011. One of my favorite things about “DevCon” is that they unveil some of what is running in the labs and allow attendees to see a preview of the future of FileMaker. All of this is presented under a verbal NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement).

I wanted to be the first to break some exciting news to you. So here are the details concerning “FileMaker 12″ (or some future version of FileMaker). We are confident that the new version will:

  • Be faster and more efficient in its use of system resources.
  • Demonstrate increased reliability.
  • Work across platforms including Windows, Mac OS, and iOS (iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch).
  • Have more features for end users and developers.
  • Be a compelling upgrade that will DO MORE THINGS.
  • Cost something (except for those companies that have an active maintenance agreement).
  • Be released sometime in the coming months or years.

There you have it. That should squash all the rumors. I can’t wait. Now is the time to get ready for the future.

OK…I admit…this could be said about nearly ANY new product. You didn’t think we’d break the NDA, did you?

Maybe they can implement layers, styles, freetext editing, serverside processing, commenting on objects, consistent use of shortcuts, consistent use of everything, ability to search for fields, autocomplete field names in the calculation editor, use of colors when scripting, wrap text around objects, etc etc….

Oh no wait, why do that? I really like to do workarounds for every f*ing thing I do! I looooove it!!

Sometimes I really hate Filemaker Inc.

    :-/

  5. Hope dies last… it’s been a long while since the last release – now or never.
